Our Story
,At the age of 19, I began looking for someone to open a tinting business in an area that had a 4 year college so I could work my way through school. In October of 1989, The Tint Shop was opened in Milledgeville and I was the manager of the business. Within a few weeks, the owners had decided to close the business, leaving me the choice of keeping the business open as the new owner or returning to my home town of Griffin. I was not looking to own a business, I just wanted a job to pay my way through college but I decided to take a chance as a business owner.
Luckily, the timing was just right! A new Georgia automotive window tinting law went into effect on January 1, 1990 and I was swamped with customers needing to have their vehicle window tinting changed to comply with the new law. This was the boost my business needed and gave me the opportunity to grow into the business we are today.
In the first years of the business, we began adding to our product line. In addition to tinting vehicles, homes, and businesses, we installed sunroofs, lowered vehicles, sold custom wheels and tires, and installed many different car and truck accessories. We became a “one stop shop” for tinting and car and truck customization. We added new accessories as the trends changed over the years. As the growth of window tinting continued, especially in the residential and commercial tinting, we were able to concentrate all of our business to tinting only.
As we approach 30 years in business, I am thankful for all our loyal customers, as well as the many great employees I have been able to work with over the years. I also have the opportunity to continue to work with my Dad, Rick, and my son, Landon. You will see my Dad and son helping me with home and business installations. Landon also does auto sales and installations at our store.
